It appears that presently (with one week to go in the regular football season) we have, in Southern California, 17 colleges that may be bowl eligible. That is, all may have a 6-4 win/loss record or better.

Six of the eight Southern California Playoff teams have been determined.
Bakersfield, Hancock, Mt. SAC, Fullerton, LA Harbor, L.A. Pierce have already qualified by virtue of their finishes in their respective conferences.  All that still needs to be determined is the second place finisher in the National Central and National Southern Conferences.

As you know the 1st and 2nd place finishers in our National Division conferences will automatically qualify for our playoff system.  Additionally, the 1st place finishers in our American Division conferences will automatically qualify for the playoffs.  That will leave three other teams to be selected to the eight-team playoff format that we use here in the South. Those other three teams will be picked using the final CCCAA/CCCFCA poll.  Once those eight teams are determined, the bowl committee will have to fill three additional bowl games that are not part of the playoffs, but reward and recognize teams for outstanding seasons. These three other bowl game participants are selected using the final CCCAA/CCCFCA poll, with the process explained in the Football Sports Guide.

Here is a list of bowl eligible teams and a run down of how the South stands with one game to go:

National Northern Conference

Bakersfield  - Playoff team - Qualifies as #1 finisher, no matter their outcome in the last game.  Would win tie breaker with Hancock if both 5-1 in conference.
Hancock  - Playoff team - qualifies as #2 finisher, has completed their schedule of 10 games.  Finished 5-1 and 9-1.
Ventura - could end up 7-3 or 6-4 overall depending on the outcome of their game with Moorpark (0-9) and would be Bowl Eligible.
Canyons - could be 7-3 or 6-4 overall depending on the outcome of their game with
Bakersfield (8-1) and would be Bowl Eligible.

National Central Conference

Mt. SAC - Playoff team - Qualifies as #1 finisher, no matter their outcome in the last game.  Would win tie breaker with Cerritos and El Camino if any ended up 5-1.
Cerritos - plays El Camino to determine sole 2nd place finisher and qualifier to tournament with 5-1record - If they lose they would be 8-2 overall and Bowl Eligible.
El Camino - plays
Cerritos to determine sole 2nd place finisher and qualifier to tournament with 5-1 record - If they lose they would be 8-2 and Bowl Eligible.

National Southern Conference

Fullerton - Playoff team - Qualifies as #1 finisher, no matter their outcome in the last game.
Palomar
- Possible 2nd place team depending on outcome of Saddleback- Grossmont game. They have finished their season (4-2 and 8-2) - wins tie breaker for second place over Saddleback but loses tie breaker with Grossmont.  So they could be Playoff team or be Bowl Eligible.
Grossmont - would be Playoff team if they beat Saddleback as second place finisher - they would tie Palomar with 4-2 conference record for second place and win tiebreaker. Would be bowl eligible if they lose to Saddleback with 7-3 overall record.
Saddleback - If they win vs. Grossmont would tie Palomar with 4-2 conference record but losses tie breaker for second place. Will be Bowl eligible with an 8-2 or 7-3 overall record.
Orange Coast - may be Bowl Eligible with a 6-4 overall record if they beat Long Beach in last game.

American Mountain Division

L. A. Harbor - Playoff Team.  Qualifies as #1 finisher, no matter their outcome in the last game. Would win tie breaker with Golden West if both were 6-1 in conference.

Golden West - if they win their last game will be 6-4 and Bowl Eligible
Victor Valley - if they win their last game will be 6-4 and Bowl Eligible

American Pacific Division

L.A. Pierce - Playoff Team.  Qualifies as #1 finisher, no matter their outcome in the last game. would win tie breaker with Antelope Valley.
Antelope Valley - If they win their last game will be 6-4 and Bowl Eligible

As you know, the final CCCAA/CCCFCA poll is extremely important in seeding the teams that qualify to the 8-team playoff format.  Additionally this poll will then determine which six colleges will qualify for the three other bowl games.  The highest ranked colleges that are not in the playoffs qualify for the other bowls.  Placement in specific playoff bowls (first round games) and the other non-playoff bowls is the responsibility of the Bowl Selection Committee, using the provisions from the Football Sport Guide that apply.
