CCCAA/CCCFCA Regional State Football Poll
The undefeated Riverside City College Tigers and the Los Angeles Valley College Monarchs once again lead their respective rankings in this week's California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Regional State Football Poll.
Riverside improved to 8-0 over the weekend with a narrow 29-22 Central League win against visiting El Camino College. RCC, the last remaining unbeaten team in the National Division, received all five first-place votes on its way to 75 points. Riverside will face a big challenge at No. 6 Long Beach City College on Saturday before closing out the regular season against fifth-ranked rival Mt. San Antonio College.
The top-five in this week's National poll remains the same. No. 2 Saddleback College (7-1, 70 points) came out on the winning end of a 57-55 offensive explosion at Grossmont College. No. 3 Fullerton College (7-1, 65 points) hammered Palomar College 63-31 while No. 4 Ventura College (6-2, 57 points) was a 42-28 winner over rival Moorpark College in the Citrus Cup. Mt. SAC (6-2, 55 points) continued its dominance with a 37-0 shutout over Chaffey College.
In the American Division, LA Valley edged Southwestern College by one point in this week's poll to retain sole possession of the No. 1 position after the two undefeated programs shared the top spot last week.
LA Valley picked up two of three first-place votes and earned 29 points after a 38-13 win at previous No. 4 Antelope Valley College. Southwestern totaled 28 points with one first-place vote thanks to its 33-12 victory at San Bernardino Valley College. LA Valley and Southwestern appear to be destined to meet in the American Division Championship Bowl.
East Los Angeles College (6-2, 24 points) holds steady at No. 3 while Santa Barbara City College (6-2, 21 points) moved up a spot to No. 4 and Victor Valley College(5-3, 16 points) jumped two places to No. 5.
The 2016 California Community College Football Poll is a service of the California Community College Athletic Association and the California Community Colleges Football Coaches Association.
