Laney holds off Ventura to claim first CCCAA Football State Championship, 40-35

SACRAMENTO - Big defensive plays propelled Laney College of Oakland to a 23-0 first quarter lead and the Eagles held off Ventura College, 40-35, to claim their first California Community College Athletic Association football championship Saturday afternoon at Sacramento City College's Hughes Stadium.
