SCFA announces Week 1 Players of the Week

The Southern California Football Association is proud to announce its first Players of the Week for the 2022 season.

Offensive: Jake Retzlaff, Riverside (QB, 6-1, 200, So., Corona, CA/Corona Centennial HS)
Retzlaff had one of the best debuts in RCC football history by going 33-for-50 with 529 yards and six touchdowns in a 59-36 win over MSJC. He threw for a RCC record 529 yards, snapping the previous record held by 2019 National Champion quarterback Jacob Barlage '19 which stood at 463 yards. Furthermore, he finished with six touchdowns marking the largest total touchdowns in a RCC quarterback' s debut. He located 11 different receivers for at least one catch.

Defensive: Salen Streater, Fullerton (DB, 6-0, 190, So., Monroe, NC/ Monroe HS)
Streater was tough to beat on Saturday night against Santa Ana with a 42-yards pick-six play along with a forced fumble, fumble recovery, 5 tackles, and a break. He helped lead the charge on a defense that held the Dons to only one score.

Special Teams/All-Purpose: Jessie Valenzuela, Ventura (RB, 5-10, 180, So., Oxnard, CA/Camarillo HS)
Vanzeula totaled 259 all-purpose yards, had 109 in punt returns, 82 rushing, 44 receiving, 25 kick off return and scored two touchdowns on a 31-yard reception and an 80-yd punt return in Ventura's 49-0 win over rival Moorpark.
